What is Greg Wallace’s net worth and how the Celebrity MasterChef judge made his fortune?

We’re used to seeing Gregg Wallace on MasterChef and Celebrity MasterChef alongside fellow judges John Torode and Monica Galletti, or marvelling at how croissants are made on Inside the Factory.

The 56-year-old from Peckham in South London has built up a sizable fortune over the years since he started out working at Covent Garden fruit and vegetable market as a teenager.

Wallace has been a fixture on British TV for nearly two decades now, but outside of MasterChef and Inside the Factory he’s also had several business ventures in food supply and restaurants.

All of that has added up to give Wallace a sizeable personal fortune.

What is Greg Wallace’s net worth?

According to Celeb Worth, Wallace’s net worth is £3.6 million. His first job was as a warehouseman at Covent Garden market when he was 15, and sold vegetables at a stall there.

He set up his own business, George Allen Greengrocers, in 1989, and built it up until it was turning over £7.5 million a year. In 2016, Wallace earned £250,000 from his work on MasterChef and MasterChef: The Professionals.

It hasn’t all been plain sailing though. Wallace’s restaurants Gregg’s Bar and Grill in Bermondsey, which launched in 2012, and Wallace and Co in Putney, which opened in 2010, both closed in 2014. Wallace’s greengrocers business West Veg also folded in 2013.

Who is Greg Wallace’s wife Anne-Marie Sterpini?

Anne-Marie Sterpini is Wallace’s fourth wife, and the pair have been married since 2016. They met in 2013 after Sterpini, then a 27-year-old caterer, tweeted Wallace to ask if duck and rhubarb really went together. They have one child, Sid Massimo Wallace, who was born in May 2019.

Sterpini, whose parents are Italian, was doubtful that she was really talking to Wallace until the pair met up for the first time.

“She came down to London to have dinner with me, and she said it wasn’t until we got to the restaurant, that she was comfortable it was really me and not an impostor.”

Twitter was also where Wallace met his third wife Heidi, a biology teacher, who he was married to for 15 months between 2014 and 2015.

Wallace has two children from his second marriage to then-pastry chef Denise, which lasted from 1999 to 2004 though they first met in 1993. Wallace’s first marriage, to Christine in 1991, lasted six weeks.

What other shows has Greg Wallace appeared in?

Though he’s best known for judging and presenting on MasterChef, Wallace has a long back catalogue of TV behind him. He first appeared on Saturday Kitchen in 2002, and made food programmes for the Discovery Channel and the Food Channel before joining MasterChef in 2005.

In 2010 and 2011 he was on Countdown in Dictionary Corner, and popped up in John Bishop’s comedy shows Only Joking and John Bishop’s Britain.

In 2014 he managed to get to the second week of Strictly Come Dancing with his dance partner Aliona Vilani despite an uncertain cha cha cha to Katy Perry’s ‘Hot N Cold’. He departed the next week following his charleston to ‘Hey Good Looking’.

Since 2015 he’s co-presented Inside the Factory with Cherry Healey too, exploring the manufacturing processes of everything from fish fingers to Brompton bicycles.
