Upcoming Leeds gigs and concerts: 13 music superstars who have just announced shows in the city


It has been a long time since we’ve been able to do this but take a look at the big name acts we’ve announced upcoming gigs in Leeds.

As we all know, the coronavirus pandemic put so many live events on hold and prevented new tour dates from being announced.

Touchwood, as things continue to resemble some kind of normality we’ve seen some music megastars announce shows in our city.

At the back end of 2021 and into 2022 we’ll welcome visits from Gary Barlow, Alanis Morissette, Royal Blood and many more.

Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark (OMD) will embark on a UK tour this November which will see the band perform songs from Architecture & Morality as well as many more from their back catalogue.

Alanis Morissette

On this special anniversary tour, Alanis will perform her iconic album Jagged Little Pill in its entirety, as well as a variety of hits including tracks from her latest album, Such Pretty Forks in the Road.

The Take That man is hitting the road in 2021 for his All The Hits tour with fans having a fair idea what to expect. Support during the shows will come from X Factor winner Leona Lewis.

“I’m so happy to have Leona join the tour, she’s such a talented singer,” said Gary. “I’ve missed performing so much, I’m just really looking forward to getting out there and seeing everyone again.”

James Taylor

Legendary singer-songwriter and multiple Grammy award winner, James Taylor & His All-Star Band – who last toured the UK in 2018. The Leeds show will be opening his UK run of shows.

The You’re Beautiful singer will be taking to the stage at Leeds First Direct Aren a in 2022. James said: “Amazingly, I’m releasing my greatest hits. I wanted to call it ‘Greatest Hit (& Songs I Wish You’d Heard)’, but the good people at Atlantic Records suggested I call it something more sensible, so it’s called ‘The Stars Beneath My Feet’.

“If you’d ever wished that James Blunt had only ever released one album – this is that album. It’s 30 awesome songs, including live performances from Glastonbury and elsewhere, and four new songs. To celebrate its release, I’ll be heading out to tour the world all next year. I can’t wait to see you then.”

Leeds Festival favourite Dave will be returning to the city in 2022. He’ll be playing Leeds as part of his We’re All Alone in This Together which will see him play across the UK and Ireland next year.

Stereophonics 2021

The Welsh rockers’ tour coincides with the release of their upcoming album Oochya! – due next year. Announcing their latest UK tour the Phonics released the song Hanging on Your Hinges.

Lead singer Kelly Jones, a massive Leeds United fan, said: “Hanging On Your Hinges was influenced by my love of early ZZ Top and darker stuff like Masters of Reality, and maybe some Iggy Pop too, and probably nods back to Bartender and The Thief. It’s the song on this album that says Oochya! more than anything else, so it’s something we wanted the fans to hear first.”

Another act loved by the Leeds Fest crowd will be returning to our city in 2022. Thousands will be delighted to see the two-piece return to Leeds – could it be a warm up for Royal Blood a Bramham Park set later in 2022?

This tour is not only the first outing of Everything Everything’s brand new album RE-ANIMATOR, but also their first full tour in over three years. The record follows 2017’s A Fever Dream from Everything Everything.

Another act loved by the Leeds Fest crowd you’ll be able to see at the arena. Elsewhere in Yorkshire, the indie trio will play Scarborough Open Air Theatre on May 26. The shows are part of a six-date tour the band have announced.

Having previously headlined Live at Leeds at the O2 The Vaccines will return to the venue with their latest record. Tickets for the Vaccines tour will go on sale from September 17.

The Script

The Script will be touring across the UK and beyond playing their greatest hits. Glen Power, from the band, said: “We’re taking all the best songs and playing them all together in one place. It will turn it into a celebration that we’ve survived and we’ve all got through to this moment together.”

After 12 years away Pavement will be back playing live again. They’ll be playing Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester and four nights in London. The gigs have been curated by Brudenell Presents – an extension of the legendary Brudenell Social Club.
