Two arrested after hammer wielding robbers storm Leeds betting shop

Two men have been arrested after robbers armed with hammers stormed a Leeds betting shop.

On Saturday, August 7, at around 7.38pm, two men entered Coral Racing in Austhorpe Road through the rear of the shop, each armed with a hammer.

The men are reported to have pushed a member of staff, before taking money from the till and fleeing in a Silver Vauxhall Astra car.

The staff member was unharmed but is understandably shaken by the incident.

Police in Leeds are appealing for information following an armed robbery at a betting shop.

A 42-year-old man and a 48-year-old man have been arrested and released pending further investigation.

Leeds District CID are now appealing for witnesses who may have seen a Silver Vauxhall Astra prior to the robbery or shortly after, in particular on Manston Crescent at around 7.30pm, to contact 101.
