The Leeds restaurant that serves the best kebabs in the entire city

A Leeds restaurant and takeaway has been shortlisted for serving the best kebabs in the UK.

The British Kebab Awards, run in association with JUST EAT and supported by the Kebab Alliance, the sector’s trade body, are in their ninth year.

This year the awards, which have attracted a record-breaking number of entries, are recognising and championing the efforts of local kebab takeaways and restaurants across the UK through the coronavirus pandemic.

The organisers have revealed a shortlist of semi-finalists for the 2021 awards.

A spokesman for the British Kebab Awards said: “Both MPs and members of the public voted for their favourite kebab business to go through to the semi-finals.”

There are a number of categories with venues across Yorkshire receiving nominations and in Leeds, I Am Doner, based in Headingley is in the running for the Best Takeaway Regional gong.

The voting stage was open for semi-finalists until June 21. You can vote for your winners here.

The eventual winners will be decided by a panel of judges and announced at a ceremony at Park Plaza Westminster, London on October 26.

Ibrahim Dogus, founder of the British Kebab Awards and director of the recently formed Kebab Alliance, said: “Kebab eateries are a key part of the local community and it’s great to see so many entries at the end of a year that has tested every business operating in the hospitality sector.

“Getting to the semi-final is a real achievement given the competition across the country and all outlets should be rightly proud. We wish all semi-finalists the best of luck.”

We’ll keep you posted with the progress of the competition.
