Leeds United’s U23 squad have enjoyed a relatively strong start to the campaign despite some disappointing results of late.
Regardless of defeat to Leicester City’s Development Squad last time out, the young Whites have performed well throughout their fixtures so far this season.
Today, much of the U23 squad will be replaced by a younger contingent due to the international break, meaning this afternoon’s fixture with Sunderland U23 could be a youthful affair.
This is not something which should hinder Leeds’ attempts to record their first victory in the Premier League Cup this season, however.
The Whites are used to fielding different sides in U23 competitions week-on-week.
The Premier League Cup represents an opportunity for Mark Jackson’s teenagers to fight for silverware among their age-mates, unlike the EFL Trophy which pits the U21 squad against League One and Two opposition.
