Current Sheffield United boss and former Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic has sent a touching message to Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott after he suffered a serious ankle injury during Liverpool’s 3-0 triumph at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon.
Early into the second half Elliott was tackled from behind by Pascal Struijk and subsequently dislodged his ankle in what was a traumatic injury for the 18-year-old.
Both sets of Physio’s rushed to Elliott’s side within seconds of the tackle and were able to treat the midfielder on the pitch before he was carried off on a stretcher. The former Fulham academy product was taken to Leeds’ General Infirmary hospital where he posted an image on his Instagram of him inhaling gas and air.
And Elliott’s former manager Jokanovic, who handed him his professional debut at 15 years of age while the duo were both at Fulham, has sent a touching message to the star on Twitter.
Replying to a post by Liverpool Football Club which updated fans on the current state of their No.67, Jokanovic was quick to send his wishes to his former prodigy.
“I wish you a speedy recovery, Harvey,” read the reply from the Blades’ boss.
Jokanovic spent three years at Craven Cottage between 2015-2018 and managed to guide the Cottagers to the Premier League after they beat Aston Villa in the 2018 play-off final.
He has since had management stints in Qatar before returning to England this summer with Sheffield United.
