Rugby League news LIVE: James Maloney makes retirement U-turn, World Cup update, Jake Connor’s Darnell McIntosh prediction

Hello and welcome along to today’s live rugby league blog where we will be bringing you all the latest news and rumours all day long.

Rivals Round has only just finished but more Super League games are already fast approaching and we’ll be building up to this week’s action throughout the day.

The action gets underway tomorrow when Wigan Warriors host Leeds Rhinos at the DW Stadium. It’s a huge game for the two clubs with both looking to claim a spot in the play-offs this year.

Wigan are struggling for form at present and another loss would see them well and truly dragged into the battle beneath them with Leeds, Hull KR, Hull FC and Castleford currently battling it out for the final two places in the top six.

Hull FC take on Castleford on Thursday in what appears to be another important game, while Hull KR are favourites to see off Wakefield at Craven Park.

Elsewhere on Thursday, St Helens meet Leigh, Warrington travel to Huddersfield and Salford are due to go to Catalans, although that game is in doubt due to Covid.
