Predicted Leeds United line-up for Everton with Kalvin Phillips forcing Marcelo Bielsa’s hand – Beren Cross

Marcelo Bielsa may make as many as two changes to the Leeds United team roundly dispatched by Manchester United last weekend.

The guessing game around Kalvin Phillips has continued this week with the head coach unwilling to confirm whether the England international would start at Elland Road.

On Thursday, Bielsa said: “Another week of work means he is physically better and he is closer to being in the team.”

The Argentine did at least reveal he felt it was not necessary for Phillips to put more minutes into his legs with the under-23s at Crystal Palace on Monday night.

That may be the closest we get to a steer Phillips may already have enough in the tank to start the match on Saturday against Everton.

Junior Firpo’s half-time introduction at Old Trafford should underline his readiness to now come into the starting line-up for a full debut and release Stuart Dallas into the centre.

There is very little in it between Robin Koch and Pascal Struijk as the starter alongside captain Liam Cooper, but the former’s right foot may be more attractive to Bielsa.

Luke Ayling, Raphinha, Jack Harrison and Patrick Bamford look nailed on in their roles, while Rodrigo’s momentum would surely not be interrupted by Bielsa at this point.

Mateusz Klich may feel a touch aggrieved, but in a match Leeds will want to attack at home, the Spain international’s attacking flair may just edge it for him.

Predicted line-up: Meslier; Ayling, Koch, Cooper, Firpo; Phillips; Raphinha, Dallas, Rodrigo, Harrison; Bamford.
