‘Nowhere near as good’ – Leeds United fans make Messi and PSG comparison as Bielsa signs deal

Leeds United fans have expressed their delight after manager Marcelo Bielsa signed a new one-year deal at the club.

The Argentinian boss has transformed the Whites during his three seasons at Elland Road, guiding them to promotion from the Championship before sealing a top-half Premier League finish last term.

And now the 66-year-old has committed to a new deal until the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

“From my point of view this is an extraordinary club,” Bielsa told Leeds’ official website.

“It’s not often you have a club who designates so much volume of investment to the improvement of the training.

“In this sense, Leeds have made a significant contribution economically for the tools for a manager to prepare his players to be the ideal ones.

“Everything that we need in this area, the club has resolved it with a very high investment. Whether that be the pitches, the facilities, the technology, commodities for the work of the players and in this sense, I am very astounded by the conduct of the club.

“I think the most important coaches that world football has would value what this club means in terms of organisation, structure and the public.”

Understandably, the news has left Leeds fans on social media delighted.

Jon Mundy tweeted: “Marcelo Bielsa – the most important signing #lufc make every season. Another enjoyable season will be had. In Bielsa We Trust.”

George added: “Yeah, PSG have got Messi, Ramos and Donnarumma on a free but it is nowhere as good as us signing Marcelo Bielsa!”

While Oliver White added: “Hopefully this will stop everyone worrying and complaining that the team is poor and we’re not ready for the new season. Bielsa wouldn’t stay if he wasn’t happy. Trust him and the squad.”
