The first half saw no goals, but plenty of threat and domination from the visitors, who improved as the half wore on. Encouragingly, Charlie Cresswell, Crysencio Summerville slotted in well to their new roles.
Rodrigo continued to pop up in dangerous positions and finally look a threat, though Illan Meslier did have to save several decent efforts from the hosts, which he was equal to.
The second half saw yet more profligate finishing and ended the game at 0-0 with penalties needed. The shootout went to sudden death and the visitors ultimately won 6-5.
