Man charged in connection with death of Leeds ‘mum to be on honeymoon’ who fell from to her death in Edinburgh


A man has been charged in connection with the death of a Leeds woman who fell from Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh.

Fawziyah Javed, from Pudsey, fell to her death from the landmark on Thursday. Police, paramedics and fire crews rushed to the scene in Holyrood Park but, tragically, the 31-year-old could not be saved.

In a statement, Police Scotland said a 27-year-old man has been charged in connection with the suspicious death.

Detective Inspector Bob Williamson said: “Fawziyah’s family ask for their privacy to be respected during this extremely difficult time.

“I’d like to thank the officers and partners who attended the scene on Thursday evening and have assisted with our ongoing inquiries.”

Fawziyah is understood to have been in Edinburgh on her honeymoon after allegedly celebrating her wedding reception on Sunday.

One source told the Daily Record Fawziyah was also thought to be in the early stages of pregnancy before her tragic death.

Tributes have today (Sat) been paid to the 31-year-old, with one woman breaking down in tears as she described the ‘mum to be’ as a ‘beautiful person’.
