Loud bangs in Beeston as gangs fight and armed police descend on area and tape off street



Police are investigating after a number of loud bangs were heard during a fracas between a group of young men in Beeston on Saturday night.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “At 10.25pm on Saturday police were called to reports of an altercation involving a group of males in the vicinity of Trentham Street, Beeston, with a number of loud bangs heard.

“Armed officers were deployed and searched the area but no suspects were identified and no evidence of a firearm’s discharge was found.

“Shortly before 9am on Sunday, a member of the public reported finding two blank firing casings in Back Stratford Street.

“A scene was put in place to undergo forensic examination and specialist searches.
