A major Armley road has been closed in both directions, causing huge queues from the Armley Gyratory back to near Stanningley Bypass.
The A647 Canal Street into Leeds city centre has been shut with witness reports of an incident on a footbridge near HMP Leeds.
The closure has caused traffic chaos along Armley Road and Stanningley Road, with the road into Leeds through Armley at a standstill.
