August is officially underway, meaning the 2021/22 Premier League campaign kicks off in less than a fortnight.
Leeds United have made three additions to the senior squad this summer, signing left-back Junior Firpo from Barcelona, making Jack Harrison’s loan from Manchester City a permanent deal and recruiting goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson from Valerenga.
However, persistent links to players in the press suggest the Whites are far from finished in the transfer market and supporters will hope deals can be wrapped up before the clash with Manchester United on 14 August.
Leeds keen on Real Madrid winger
Leeds have set their sights on Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio, according to fichajes.net.
The 25-year-old was a regular at the Bernabeu last season but new manager Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly open to offloading the Spaniard, alerting Premier League clubs.
Everton and Leicester City are also said to be in the hunt for Asensio, who is currently representing Spain at the Olympics.
Leeds miss out on Croatia international
Wolfsburg winger Josip Brekalo has been linked with a move to Elland Road for weeks but according to LUFCFANZONE, a switch to West Yorkshire is unlikely.
They claim a source has told them that Leeds ‘pushed all the way’ for Brekalo’s signature but that the Croatia international is set to join Serie A side Lazio.
The 23-year-old is reportedly set to complete a move to Maurizio Sarri’s side next week.
Leeds reject loan approach for highly-rated defender
According to The Sunday People, Leeds have rejected an approach from Sunderland for under-23s captain Charlie Creswell.
The highly-rated defender has been tipped for a bright future at Elland Road and the Whites are reportedly keen to keep him at the club, hence the rejection of Sunderland’s offer.
It has also been claimed Leeds are set to offer a new contract to the 18-year-old, who has reportedly generated interest from Championship clubs.
