Leeds United secured their first points of the season in an entertaining 2-2 draw against Everton, providing a platform to build upon.
The Whites now face Crewe Alexandra in the Carabao Cup before the trip across the Pennines to tackle Burnley in the Premier League, with the international break then following.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side still have time to add further names to their ranks before the close of the summer transfer window, building upon the work that has already been done.
Plenty of rumours continue to circle and we have identified some of the latest pieces of speculation.
Everton make Cunha move
Everton have become the latest club to throw their hat in the ring for the services of Hertha Berlin star Matheus Cunha, according to Sky Germany.
The 22-year-old reportedly has a deal agreed in principle with Atletico Madrid, with the Bundesliga side accepting an offer of €30m.
However, Everton made a late attempt to try to hijack the transfer of the player, who has also been heavily linked with a move to Leeds United, but the player himself prefers to move to Spain.
Blackburn set for Poveda loan
Blackburn Rovers are set to sign Ian Poveda on loan from Leeds United for the duration of the season, our sister site Lancs Live states.
The 21-year-old could be set for an exit from Elland Road to increase his senior opportunities and Blackburn are ready to capitalise on his availability.
Rovers are looking to continue their fine record in developing young players on loan from top-flight sides, following on from Harvey Elliott and Taylor Harwood-Bellis from Liverpool and Manchester City respectively.
Hjelde to seal Leeds transfer
Celtic defender Leo Hjelde will seal a move to Leeds United before the close of the transfer window this month, the Athletic states.
The Norwegian defender shone last season on loan with Ross County, playing a mixture of centre-back and left-back, which led to comparisons with Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk.
Hjelde was said to have agreed his move earlier this month and Leeds United will confirm it before the transfer window shuts next week, according to reports.
