Leeds United on alert as Fulham sensation turns down contract amid Whites interest

Leeds United are keeping a close eye on developments at Craven Cottage with a transfer impasse opening the door for a potential exciting signing.

Fulham’s teenage sensation Fabio Carvalho has turned down the offer of a new contract at Craven Cottage, with the winger acutely aware he’s being closely watched by Leeds United, as well as West Ham and Porto.

The 18-year-old Portuguese-born player came to England with his family at a young age and is a product of Fulham’s academy, having made his breakthrough last season under Scott Parker.

Carvalho played six times last season including making his Premier League debut and is expected to have a big part to play in the Cottagers’ bid to bounce straight back up this campaign.

Mail Online report an initial contract offer has been turned down, with Carvalho out of contract next summer and while Fulham will hope to convince the winger to stay and work with new manager Marco Silva, the presence of Leeds and West Ham in the background will no doubt capture the eye also.

Leeds are not in need of a winger at present with Jack Harrison and Raphinha the two current first choice players, but Carvalho is regarded as a player with a big future ahead of him and the race for his signature is likely to hot up in the coming weeks and months.
