Leeds Festival 2021 traffic causes huge 90 minute delays on M1 motorway

The rush of people heading to Leeds Festival is causing an hour and half delays on the M1 near Leeds this afternoon.

Around 200,000 attendees are expected at the huge music festival this weekend and many of them are making their way there today.

The northbound M1 between junction 43 and 46 is currently experiencing heavy traffic and delays of around 90 minutes, according to Highways Yorkshire.

The official Highways Yorkshire account tweeted: “There are delays of 90 mins on M1 north from J46 and A1M north from J43 due to traffic heading to Leeds Festival at Bramham Park.

“If you’re heading that way please allow plenty of extra time for your journey and consider alternate routes if possible.”

Traffic is also heavy around the festival itself.

Leeds Festival Police warned that queues into the festival car parks are causing traffic on Paradise Way.
