A look at which players have racked up the most game time so far during pre-season
With Leeds United coming up on their last few pre-season games, as the U23 side facing Jong Ajax and the first-team due to meet Ajax and Villareal this week, we have gone through the players that have featured in pre-season up to this point, ranking them in order of most minutes played, to the least.
Club captain, Liam Cooper has yet to feature and Kalvin Phillips was the latest to return for pre-season due to the fact that he started every single game in England’s run to the final of the Euros. They are currently the only two established first-teamers yet to appear.
Aside from those two, only young players expected to leave the club on loan or on a permanent deal, such as Robbie Gotts and Niall Huggins, have failed to make any appearance thus far.
Although there have been four games at this stage, there has been a clear split between the two squads, with only Sam Greenwood making appearances for both. Perhaps this reflects his status as being on the cusp of the first-team but it also must be said that Leeds’ first team squad hasn’t yet reached it’s full strength with a couple more signings planned and Cooper and Phillips not featuring yet. As such, the most any player could possibly have played is 360 minutes but no player has played this.
The rankings are as follows…
