‘He is different level’ – Pundit blown away by what Leeds United’s Raphinha did against Everton

Michael Dawson branded Raphinha “a joy to watch” after he rescued a point for Leeds in their 2-2 draw against Everton.

The Brazilian scored the pick of the goals at Elland Road which saw the Whites come from behind for the second time and earn their first point of the season.

It was some way for the 24-year-old to open his account for the campaign as he sent a rocket past Jordan Pickford from the edge of the box and it was a strike that Dawson couldn’t have held in higher regard.

Covering the match for Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, the former Tottenham defender repeatedly spoke of his admiration for Raphinha.

“He is class, this player is top quality,” Dawson said.

“(Liam) Cooper lays it to the edge of the box and he just caresses it left foot into Pickford’s far corner.

“It’s easy to say but I’ve mentioned it time after time after time, people must be sick of it and hearing me mention his name and think he’s the only player I know, but he is different level this player, he is class.

“When the ball comes to him on the edge of the box he could have put his laces through but outside of the foot, phwoar, it’s to Pickford’s right and he has no chance.”

It was a goal befitting of the player but even more so the match which showed exactly why football is so much better when played in front of supporters.

The 36,293 people who were lucky enough to be inside Elland Road certainly made their voices heard as they were treated to a high-octane game of Premier League football.

There were four goals, six yellow cards and plenty of controversy as Leeds fans returned to watch their team for the first time in 532 days. If that is a sign of things to come for the Whites this term then those supporters will definitely get their money’s worth.

They welcome the top flight’s other Merseyside club in their next home fixture as Liverpool travel to West Yorkshire on September 12.
