Gogglebox cast 2021 update as five stars will not be returning for new series

It has been confirmed that five Gogglebox stars will not return to the show ahead of the new series.

The much loved Channel 4 show has begun filming once again and will be airing on TV screens across the nation later this month.

However, TV bosses have revealed that a handful of our favourite telly-watchers have left the show following a number of tragic deaths recently, Daily Star reports.

Following the death of much-loved Goggleboxer Andy, the Michael family have made the decision to step down from the show.

Marina will also not be returning for the new series after loosing her best friend and co-star, Mary.

Pete’s widow Linda will be missing from our screens this series too.

George Gilbey’s dad Pete tragically died earlier this year, before Andy Michael passed away just days after Mary Cook died aged 92.

The Michael family includes son Louis and his sister Alex, while Mary was typically seen alongside Marina in Bristol.

Gilbey’s parents took a brief break from the show before, due to his involvement in Celebrity Big Brother.

The Michael family, meanwhile, left the show temporarily while Andy ran for UKIP.

Executive producer Victoria Ray explained: “We have had people from the show pass away recently.

“We lost Mary and Andy, and a little while ago we lost Pete. Their loved ones won’t be taking part in the show for the moment. Understandably, they want their privacy.”

Channel 4’s Gogglebox returns to Channel 4 in September with episodes also available to catch up with via the All 4 streaming service and on demand catch up hub.

Gogglebox’s return has been confirmed for Friday, September 17 on Channel 4 at 9pm.
