The 47-year-old actress has become a firm favourite on the show since joining in 2002, but she actually made her soap debut in Eastenders in 1997.
Charlotte has been embroiled in some tricky storylines, most recently she and Jai Sharma, played by Chris Bisson, discovered they were expecting a baby together.
The couple learned their child would be born with Down’s syndrome and after some tricky conversations it was decided that Laurel would have an abortion.
The controversial storyline didn’t come without backlash as hundreds of people complained about the plot.
But, Charlotte is no stranger to an emotional storyline, from her baby dying of cot death to her true love Ashley (John Middleton) deteriorating and eventually dying with dementia.

Laurel is perhaps best known for her kind and caring nature and her thoughtful attitude towards others.
However, this changed dramatically in 2015 when she developed an addiction to alcohol, which lead her to becoming violent and aggressive to those around her.
Charlotte won the British Soap Award for Best Actress in 2017 for her portrayal of Laurel.
We have taken a look at what actress Charlotte Bellamy’s life is like when the camera’s stop rolling.
What do we know about Charlotte Bellamy?
Charlotte lives a relatively quiet life off-screen, she keeps her private life very much out of the public eye and steers clear from social media.
The star doesn’t have an Instagram account, however, she does occasionally use Twitter and unsurprisingly has over 71,000 followers.
She is married to Mungo Denison, and has three children – two boys called Herbie and Sunnie, and a daughter named Teddie.
Laurel has been off-screen at various times while Bellamy has taken maternity leave.
Bellamy had her first child in 2004, followed by her second child in 2007.
It was announced in 2009 that she was expecting her third child in October 2009 and that she would return to Emmerdale in 2010.
Husband, Mungo, is a 48-year-old company director, with offices in Leeds and London, and the pair are actually childhood sweethearts who have been together since the young age of 18.
The lovebirds made the headlines a few years ago when they secretly married, in a low-key ceremony at their local registry office.
In a previous interview the star said: “We sat there at breakfast and said to the kids, “We’re getting married today”, and they were like, “What?”
“We did it on a random Thursday in May 2012. It was a beautiful sunny day, there was no fuss and no stress, it was great.”
Charlotte even borrowed some shoes from the ITV soap wardrobe to complete her bridal outfit for the understated day.
She said: “I didn’t have any navy shoes to go with the dress so I borrowed a pair of Laurel’s from work. I’ve never told anyone that so I hope I don’t get in to trouble!”
Even their closest friends were shocked when they received the news via text a few days later.
Despite the pair being together since they were teens, they had never shown any signs of tying the knot.
