Emotional Leeds United fans were overjoyed to finally return to an away end as 5,000 supporters were at Ewood Park to see their side draw 1-1 with Blackburn Rovers.
After an under-23s side won at Gusieley on Tuesday evening, Marcelo Bielsa sent out a strong side against the Championship team, with summer signing Junior Firpo playing 60 minutes in his first appearance in a Leeds shirt.
It was the hosts who took the lead when substitute Conor McBride saw his free-kick deflect off the wall and past Illan Meslier on 72 minutes.
Leeds were level nine minutes later though, as Pascal Struijk was on hand to slot Jack Harrison’s cutback home.
And it was those two players that received the lion’s share of the praise from Whites supporters on social media following the game, as fans reflected on what was a decent workout for Bielsa’s side and a memorable return to the stands for those that have been locked out for almost 18 months.
here is a look at some of the reaction:
Leeds will be back in action on Friday evening, when they visit Simon Grayson’s Fleetwood Town at Highbury Stadium, before heading to Loughborough University for a Saturday lunchtime kick-off against Real Betis, who lost at Derby County on Wednesday evening.
A trip to Amsterdam to face Ajax follows next Wednesday night as preparations for the opening weekend Premier League clash against Manchester United continue.
